Admired by the masses, Shaykh Muhammad Alshareef died suddenly at the age of 47 in Dubai on Thursday, July 21. Known as one of the leading scholars of our times, Shaykh Muhammad was not known to have any ongoing illnesses, which is why his death shocked many. Despite this, his family remained patient remembering that life is not something promised.
His life was one filled with effort for Islam.
Born in 1975, the Shaykh grew up in Winnipeg, Canada and went on to memorise the Quran at a young age. He then completed a degree in Islamic Law at the Islamic University University of Madinah. It wasn’t until 2002 that he founded the world-renowned AlMaghrib Institute. With humble origins in College Park, Maryland, Shaykh Muhammad began this noble endeavour with only 30 students. Through the AlMaghrib Institute online platform, many students across the world have continued to benefit from the many Islamic resources and study programmes.
Since the announcement of his death, students, scholars and the general public have published many social media posts discussing his life and personality.
