Getting a good night’s rest can be hard, especially when you are stressed, over tired, travelling or coping with unexpected circumstances. Even changes in routine with the arrival of Ramadan, or family problems can affect the quality of sleep – and ultimately affects your own health and wellness making you vulnerable to colds and other illnesses.
It was just this situation that Adnan Ebrahim experienced a few years ago. At the time, he was running a major social media brand known as Car Throttle attracting over 15m followers and more than 500m video views every month.
“It felt like I was running a million miles an hour every day and I noticed the stress starting to mount. At first it affected my sleep. I’d spend hours tossing and turning trying to get some rest. Then I’d wake up feeling exhausted, tense, and in desperate need of an energy kick.”
It was around this time that Car Throttle was acquired by international magazine conglomerate Dennis Publishing, and after a six-month stint at the acquiring company, Adnan decided to set out on a search for answers. Numerous wellness techniques were tried including breathwork and meditation.
“As I dug deeper, I realised that my own religion had the answers I was looking for.”
In the Qur’an, Allah stresses the importance of sleep stating in Surah Nur, “It is He who made the night a garment for you, and sleep a rest, and made the day like a resurrection.” The solution to lack of sleep is also provided as the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) indicates in the Hadith, “He (Allah) has appointed a cure for every disease, so treat yourself medically, but use nothing unlawful.”
By studying the Qu’ran and Hadith, Adnan identified the best way to create restful sleep. There are numerous references to ingredients that can help get a good night’s sleep – all of which have since been scientifically proven. These ingredients include honey, pomegranate, figs and black seeds. One of the most significant superfoods is dates – mentioned 22 times in the Qu’ran.
Working with his co-founder Gabor, Adnan launched Crescent Days which creates wellness supplements combining cutting edge science with verified religious texts, making it perfect for Muslims around the world.
The result is Dream Sticks, the first Halal-certified sleeping supplement for Muslims. Made in the UK, and containing no animal or alcohol product, the sticks have been described as offering ‘Sunnah in a stick’. Each stick contains all the foods mentioned in the Qu’ran and Hadith, together with ingredients backed by science which are proven to help improve sleep such as magnesium and L-theanine from Green Tea Extract.
Each stick contains the exact quantities required to unlock faster and deeper sleep and all customers need to do is tear it open and mix the contents with some hot water to create a tea-like drink.
The taste has been described as sweet and fruity, with a touch of citrus from the orange flavouring. Customers can also add a squeeze of lemon to boost immunity, while sweet-toothed customers add the velvety sweetness of honey (after all, the Qur’an does point out that honey is ‘a cure for people!’)
Healthy sleep patterns quickly occur, together with rapid improvements in overall health and wellbeing. Customers can experience a more positive outlook and less irritability, better concentration, increased energy, physical health and stress reduction.
Having found a solution to Adnan’s sleep problems, he and Gabor have already found great success with a Muslim audience who share the same problems. Their number one priority was to ensure that Dream Sticks were totally permissible within the bounds of Islamic law. All the ingredients are 100% certified by the World Halal Trust.
Dream Sticks are now available worldwide on the Crescent Days website and have been extensively promoted on social media where the brand has amassed millions of views already.
