London Eye Lights Up for Eid: A Celebration of Giving, Generosity & Gratitude

As the crescent moon marks the end of Ramadan, the iconic lastminute.com London Eye will glow in shades of green, symbolising peace, renewal, and generosity—values deeply rooted in Islamic tradition. This dazzling illumination serves as a tribute to the spirit of Eid, a festival celebrated by two billion Muslims worldwide, embracing themes of charity, community, and gratitude.

This initiative is a visible acknowledgment of the Muslim communities in London and beyond, reinforcing the values of unity and generosity in one of the world’s most diverse cities. Throughout Ramadan, the UK has witnessed a growing tradition of communal iftars, where people from all backgrounds come together in the spirit of reflection and kindness. The Eid Lights initiative beautifully reflects this, highlighting the invaluable contributions of British Muslims across various sectors, including charity, business, and public life.

Among the key partners supporting this initiative is the Better Community Business Network (BCBN), which has provided hundreds of grants to grassroots charities across the UK. Their work supports vital causes such as education, disability inclusion, mental health, poverty alleviation, the arts, and environmental sustainability.

Sabah Gilani, CEO of BCBN, highlights the significance of this initiative:

“The Eid Lights initiative is more than just a celebration; it is a powerful statement of visibility, contribution, and generosity. Eid is about giving—not only through charity but also through the way we uplift and support one another as a community. At BCBN, we are committed to funding grassroots projects that create real change. We also champion the role of Muslim women in philanthropy, business, and leadership through programmes such as the Muslim Mind Collaborative and Muslim Women Founders. The London Eye’s transformation for Eid is a reminder of the profound impact of generosity and the importance of inclusion.”

Another key partner, Emerald Network, has played a crucial role in fundraising, networking, and amplifying the contributions of Muslim professionals and entrepreneurs. Rooful Ali, Founder of Emerald Network, reflects on the significance of the occasion:

“Eid embodies unity, community, and coming together. The circular shape of the London Eye serves as a fitting analogy, representing togetherness. The green illumination reflects a prominent colour in our faith, reminiscent of Madinah’s Green Dome. I am particularly excited that the animated lights transition through the phases of the moon, symbolising our connection to time, faith, and community. It is an honour to see such a globally recognised landmark commemorate Eid, and I look forward to the community gathering beneath its glow as we close the blessed month of Ramadan.”

The Naz Legacy Foundation, dedicated to youth empowerment and social mobility, has helped expand the reach of the Eid Light-Up initiative by engaging with other iconic institutions across London.

Bushra Nasir CBE, Chair of Naz Legacy Foundation, shares her thoughts:

“We are proud to support the Eid Lights 2025 initiative, illuminating London’s most famous landmarks to celebrate unity, diversity, and shared heritage. Eid is a time of joy, reflection, and togetherness, and these stunning displays showcase the rich contributions of British Muslims to our capital. We hope this initiative inspires people of all backgrounds to unite in the spirit of inclusivity and celebration.”

The Eid Lights initiative is more than an illumination—it is a statement of giving, generosity, and gratitude. This collaboration, made possible by the lastminute.com London Eye team, in partnership with the Mayor of London and key community organisations, reminds us that light unites us, fosters reflection, and celebrates our shared values.

As the London Eye shines in green, it stands as a beacon of appreciation, generosity, and connection—ensuring that Eid and its message of kindness and unity remain a cherished part of London’s vibrant cultural landscape.
