the Albert Dock is a firm Liverpool favourite, a top British heritage attraction, it should be on the agenda of every visitor.

Located on Liverpool’s stunning waterfront, the largest collection of Grade I listed buildings in Britain is part of Liverpool’s designated UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The dock was desgiend by Jesse Hartley and first opened in 1846. the Albert Dock remained a fully working dock until closing in 1972. It lay derelict for many years after this, until undergoing a huge restoration and regeneration programme and reopened as a visitor attraction in 1988 by HRH Prince Charles.

Today, the Albert Dock is bustling and home to a number of Award winning attractions such as The Beatles Story, the International Slavery Museum, Merseyside Maritime Museum and Tate Liverpool – the home of contemporary art in the North.

There’s a fine selection of family friendly restaurants, cocktail spots, coffee shops and souvenir stores. Favourites include The Smugglers Cove, What’s Cooking and kids favourite, Mattel Play!

Throughout the year, the Albert Dock is alive with free world-class events from the summertime International Mersey River Festival to festive celebrations in the winter months.
